Imagine this. Your kid stays out too late or hangs out with the wrong crowd. As a parent it would be your responsibility and duty to punish your child in some way, perhaps grounding them from their cell phone for a week. Right? Well, what if your decision to ground your child could be appealed? Obama is pushing for approving a U.N. treaty that would allow your child to appeal all of your parental decisions to the government. The government could literally reverse your decision to ground your child. Sounds “too bad to be true”, right? Not only is it true, but Obama has described our failure to ratify this legislature by now as “embarrassing”.

This is something that every parent in the U.S. needs to see. If you feel that the government should tell you how you have to raise your kids then you might be ok with this. However, if you are one of the millions of parents out there who do not want the government to tell you how to raise your kids, then you need to see this. Call your representatives today and tell them that you will not be told how you can and can’t raise your own kids.

If your kid tells you they want to join a cult do you want the government telling you that you have to stand by and allow it?

This piece of legislation has been around since the 90’s but thankfully the US has stayed away from it until now… Here’s the full text of the U.N. Council on the Rights of the Child.

The text of the bill is littered with good things such as feeding children properly, giving them proper care, etc. This all seems good and well but it is all an attempt to mask its bigger goal, letting the government tell us how to raise our kids. Some parts that I feel are important to point out. I’ll bold the key parts.

Article 2.

2. States Parties shall take all appropriate measures to ensure that the child is protected against all forms of discrimination or punishment on the basis of the status, activities, expressed opinions, or beliefs of the child’s parents, legal guardians, or family members.

According to this part it would be illegal to punish your child for a variety of very gray reasons.

Article 12

1. States Parties shall assure to the child who is capable of forming his or her own views the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child, the views of the child being given due weight in accordance with the age and maturity of the child.

2. For this purpose, the child shall in particular be provided the opportunity to be heard in any judicial and administrative proceedings affecting the child, either directly, or through a representative or an appropriate body, in a manner consistent with the procedural rules of national law.

So what if your child wants to express their views and beliefs by joining a cult? Not only would this seem to require parents to allow that, but it also gives legal ground for children to sue their parents if this so called “right” is infringed upon. Here’s where it really starts to get nasty:

Article 13

1. The child shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of the child’s choice.

2. The exercise of this right may be subject to certain restrictions, but these shall only be such as are provided by law and are necessary:

(a) For respect of the rights or reputations of others; or

(b) For the protection of national security or of public order (ordre public), or of public health or morals.

Article 13 would appear to declare that parents have no right to tell their kids what types of movies, books, magazines, tv shows, music, video games, websites, etc, they can fill their minds with. Parents would no longer be able to say to their kids “No you can’t see that movie”, “No you can’t go to that website”, “No you can’t listen to that music”, so on and so forth. Instead the government would view this as “child abuse”. By instilling good morals and values in your children you could risk having them taken away from you “in their best interest”.

But wait, there’s more…

Article 15

1. States Parties recognize the rights of the child to freedom of association and to freedom of peaceful assembly.

2. No restrictions may be placed on the exercise of these rights other than those imposed in conformity with the law and which are necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security or public safety, public order (ordre public), the protection of public health or morals or the protection of the rights and freedoms of others.

Is your son or daughter hanging out with the wrong crowd? Well, according to Article 15 it would no longer be up to parents to decide what crowds are right or wrong for their kids. Is your kid dating somebody that you want out of their lives? As a parent you’d think that it would be your responsibility and duty to put your foot down when it comes to who your child dates while living in your house. This bill would label you as an abusive parent for doing so. It would be illegal to infringe upon your childs “freedom of association”.

This is just a taste of the agenda that Obama says he is “embarassed” that we haven’t embraced yet. I encourage you to read the full text of the bill and pass this on to as many people as you can. If you believe that it’s your right to raise your child without the government interfering then it is imperative that we let Obama know that we are embarassed that he’s even considering putting this through Congress.

Perhaps the scariest part of the CRC is that unlike many U.N. documents, agreements, etc, this is an international treaty. By agreeing to this, the U.S. would essentially be stating that even our own Constitution is second fiddle to the U.N. This would become the legally binding law of the land.
