Well, ladies and gentlement of the US and the world, we have a new president. Maybe you’ve heard by now but in case you are just joining us, Barack Obama is now the president of the US.

I’ve heard a few people already talking about how much better they feel to be an American now. Let’s not put the carriage before the horse please. So far the economy is still in shambles, we are still in Iraq, etc, but come on it’s only the first day. Give it a few months and then give him a fair assessment. There is no guarantee that he will fail as a president simply because you don’t agree with him. Sure he might not implement policies that you like, but in the end it’s the people and history that will judge him as a president.

One thing that was cool so far is that the WhiteHouse.gov website has received a face lift. Check it out if you are interested. It’s a lot more media and user friendly now.

Touché President Obama, touché.

Glenn Beck will be returning to cable TV tomorrow at 5PM ET. His show was “removed” from CNN late last year without much explanation. His contract apparently prohibited him from saying much on the subject. CNN has developed quite the reputation for living up to the dictionary definition of “liberal”. I’m sure that had something to do with it. Fox News Channel however has had a reputation of being too conservative. This accusation does make sense considering that a majority of Fox’s talk show hosts and news anchors do seem to lean heavily to the right, but according to their lists of guests and even their own reporting “bias” when it comes to the actual news they claim they have remained steadfast in their “fair and balanced” reporting. It does seem fair and balanced to me, but then again I’ve been known to tip my chair so far to the right it’s tipped over a few times. As the saying goes, “I’d rather be right than wrong” so no complaints.

Ford, GM, Chrysler are among the US based automakers who are in huge trouble right now. Ever since the big bailouts recently for the banks and credit unions it’s as if every other failing company thinks they are entitled to a government bailout package. Funny how that works.

The auto companies are so big that they claim a national economic catastrophe if they go out of business. They employ a huge amount of US citizens, but in the end will the market not correct itself regardless of what happens? If the auto companies do in fact go under, isn’t that just the natural course of action when your company has been poorly run for years upon years? Capitalism is fairly simply to understand. Companies compete against other companies and the company that can provide the best product and/or service for the best price is generally the one that comes out on top.

Obama is in and gun sales are up. They are soaring in fact. Gun shops are reporting increased sales of 2000% and more in some areas of the US. People are buying guns and ammo like it’s going out of style… or maybe it’s more like “it might be banned or taxed to oblivion”.

Will Obama try to ban guns? Probably not. He started off as the most liberal candidate ever but he’s evened out on a lot of his stances to get votes. If he does too much to mess around with the 2nd amendment then he’ll have a tough time getting re-elected. Does that mean he won’t try to renew things such as the expired assault weapons ban? Who knows. There are a lot of pro gun advocates who might not be that concerned if their neighbor wasn’t allowed to own a fully automatic M4 machine gun. But then again there are a lot of people who considered the ban to be unconstitutional in the first place. Either way, Obama’s record isn’t exactly pro gun by any means.

John McCain’s campaign has released a message to everybody who supported them during the election. We support this statement. Now is not the time for America to be divided. Will we disagree from time to time? Yes. That doesn’t mean we can’t decide in advance to be constructive and diplomatic. As Americans, now is the time to focus on coming together as Americans and making the best of where we are at as a country.

It’s important to point out the difference between being partisan and simply being a hater. Here at Partisan Journal we’ll have some fun and poke jokes at the government from time to time. We won’t however bask in the type of behavior displayed by so many people during the Bush years. The media hated Bush and did all it could to discredit him in every way. While we are by no means fans of Barack Obama or supporters of his policies, we want to make it clear first and foremost that our goal is not to tear him apart and discredit him. If there are legitimate conversatons and opinions to be had regarding his policies or administration in general you better believe we will have our say. We won’t however stoop to the level of those already saying such things as “Obama is not my president” or those who continue to use the phrase “NOBAMA”.

We are all going to have to learn this song come January 20th, 2009 when Barack Obama is sworn in as president. We might as well start now.

Today marks the launch of PartisanJournal.com. We are unashamedly partisan and we don’t take well to the politically correct culture we are living in today. If you are a far left liberal democrat/socialist then we invite you to read our journal daily. Maybe you’ll learn a thing or two and come around to the right side.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden have won the White House for the next 4 years. This means we’ll have our work cut out for us with constant flubbery to critique and report on. We’ll offer opinionated and politically incorrect articles with an overall in-your-face aproach to political journalism. We’ll call things as we see them and we’ll call out those who we feel deserve it. Visit often, bring a helmet, and tell your friends.
